About Kristie McCadden
Hear the frogs croak!

Kristie Kristie McCadden was born in Marysville California in 1965. When she was 4 her father became a pilot for a commercial airline so the family moved from the sunshine of the west to the change of seasons in New England. Kristie loved each season for different reasons which each of her books will display.

Kristie loved art and took lessons from the time she was in 3rd grade. She was educated in New Hampshire but was undecided as to what she wanted to do with her future; however, she knew art would be involved somehow. Her parents suggested she attend the University of New Hampshire to earn her GED credits while taking studio art classes. After her second year of college she transferred to Parsons School of Design in New York City where she graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design.

Kristie decided to move to California to live with a friend from college with only $100 in her pocket. She luckily got a job quickly with Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. as a desktop publisher. After a couple of years she changed gears (no pun intended) and applied for a job within TMS as a color forecaster. During this time she became engaged to be married and decided to give up her job to move back to New England and back to the beautiful seasons.

Kristie soon became busy with her two children Cade and Maycie while working as an advertising/marketing director for a local company. When she had the time she loved painting with oils and took art classes at a local studio.

One spring evening when Kristie’s daughter was 3, Maycie wanted to sing the holiday song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. Kristie was having a hard time with the idea of bringing back the snowy cold memories of winter while keeping her daughter happy. So she came up with new lyrics she could enjoy while her daughter could keep the melody of the popular Christmas carol. The result was “The Twelve Days of Spring”. Her daughter completely enjoyed the song so much she thought this would make a great children’s book for all to enjoy.

Kristie resides in New Hampshire with her husband, son and daughter, and Rocky, their Yellow Labrador. Her newly released book The Twelve Days of Winter, is the second book in the series and celebrates all the wonder of winter using the same melody of The Twelve Days of Christmas. She is currently working on “The Twelve Days of Fall” and the book should be out in 2011.
