Local Author Donates Book, The Twelve Days of Spring, to Centre School
Second-graders inspired by visit. Local author Kristie Sewell McCadden presents a copy of her new book,
"The Twelve Days of Spring," to teacher Rita Colby and her second-grade class at the Centre School.

HAMPTON — Can you think Spring? That was the question local author Kristie Sewell McCadden posed to Rita Colby's second-grade class in the Centre School library on a cold winter's day recently as she shared her new book, "The Twelve Days of Spring," with them.Using the traditional song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" as a model, McCadden has written and illustrated a vibrant look at 12 signs of spring from a robin in its nest to daffodils blooming, pussy willows in the marsh and frogs returning to the ponds.

The inspiration for the book originated with her own daughter and her desire to sing the "Twelve Days of Christmas" year round. Like many authors, it was several years from conception to the creation of the art work and final publishing of the book.McCadden is truly a local author having lived in New Hampshire since the age of four. She honed her art skills at Parsons School of Design in New York City and graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design.

As the parent of two children who attend Hampton schools, she wanted to share her book with other young students. As part of her visit, she donated a copy of The Twleve Days of Spring to the Centre School Library. The book is now available for purchase at local book stores.McCadden is now working on her next project with plans to produce "Twelve Days" books for each of the remaining three seasons. She presently resides in Hampton with her husband and her two children.
